RESEARCH/TEACHING EXPERIENCE
- Rutgers, The State
University of New Jersey
Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering
Advisor: Professor Alberto M. Cuitiño
- Modeling and simulation using Finite Element Method
Developed mechanical-electrical coupled, large-deformation finite element models to analyze two types of electro-active polymers, dielectric elastomers and ferroelectric polymers. The electrostatic Maxwell’s equations were solved simultaneously with the linear momentum equation. The constitutive relations for the materials and the large deformation coupled-field finite element scheme were implemented in the open source finite element program, FEAP.
- Non-contact strain measurement
Developed a global approach of Digital Image Correlation (DIC), using the assembling technique and the solver in FEAP. This method has been successfully used to measure the strain distributions on metal foams and human Osteosarcoma cells.
- Micro-mechanical modeling
Used Monte Carlo method to study the process of void nucleation and growth in metal.

- Computer aided measurement
Derived a new mathematical model for digital spatial carrier fringe patterns. Proposed and developed a fast demodulation algorithm for digital moiré contouring technique.
- Software development and hardware design
